Some Things Never Change

"The Name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe." (Proverbs 18:10) "And those who know Your Name will put their trust in You; for You, O LORD, have not forsaken those who seek You." (Psalm 9:10)

Names to the Jewish people said something significant about the person or place. God made Himself known to His people as He revealed Himself by word and deed. There are different names to match the different characteristics of God. I'd like to share a couple with you today. It's fun and beneficial to learn about the different characteristics of our awesome God. You may even find yourself seeing Him in a new way.

Elohim - God the Creator: "In the beginning God created." (Genesis 1:1) "In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through Him all things were made; without Him nothing was made that has been made." (John 1:1-2) [Also see Col. 1:15-17; Heb. 1: 1-2,12]

Yahweh - LORD (Jehovah - I AM): "And God said to Moses, 'I AM WHO I AM.' And He said, 'Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, 'I AM has sent me to you.' " (Exodus 3:14)

Jesus also made I AM statements about Himself:
John 14:6, "I AM the Way, the Truth, the Life."
John 6:35, "I AM the Bread of life."
John 8:12, "I AM the Light of the world."
John 8:58, ". before Abraham was I AM"
John 10:7, ". I AM the door of the sheep."
John 10:11, "I AM the good Shepherd."
John 11:25, ". I AM the resurrection and the life."

Look up more "I AM" statements in your quiet time, it's a great way to get acquainted with Your Lord in a very special way.

Challenge: In your quiet time with the Lord search for New Testament passages that say the same thing about Jesus.

The greatest name we can run into, as a Christian, is the Name of He who's Name is above all other names - Jesus. In addition, "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and yes forever." (Hebrews 13:8) What a comfort to know some things never change.

Have a triumphant day in Jesus!
